These cockroaches are a significant worry as they like indoor locations. These are small in size, ranging from 1/2 inch to 5/8 inch in length and medium yellowish-brown in color. German roaches can be distinguished from other cockroaches by two dark parallel stripes on the anterior, dorsal portion of the thorax.

These roaches prefer locations that provide appropriate amounts of food, moisture, warmth, and shelter.

It is approximately 1 inch long (22 to 27mm) and dark brown to black. Males have wings that cover 3/4 of their body, and the female has very short arms. These cockroaches are sometimes addressed as “waterbugs” because they hang out in moist areas. They harbor places where it is damp, cold, and dark.

These roaches stand at an inch-and-a-half or more in length, which does not include the antennae, possess a shiny body ranging from reddish-brown to dark brown. They have a yellow margin on the pronotum, right behind the head. They prefer warm, moist environments and do not survive well in the cold.

It is large and generally ranges between 1inch to 1 ΒΌ with a glossy black body. Males have narrower frames and developed wings, while females have large bodies and undeveloped wings. Oriental cockroaches are not capable of flying despite having wings. They often take shelter in basements, crawl spaces, utility rooms, sewers, and old incinerators as these places do not have frequent visitors.

The climatic conditions in Alaska are so favorable for cockroaches since the summers are warm and humid. The region has ample humidity throughout the year, and summers may have temperatures reaching the low-to-mid 30s degree Celsius, while in the winter. Some areas in Alaska are wettest and warmest, where cockroaches thrive and multiply quickly.

Control Measures

Chemical methods

This includes insecticides and poisonous substances. These methods effectively kill roaches but have several disadvantages too.

Gel Baits

It contains a repellent ingredient that kills cockroaches, and it is easy to use and works perfectly for both indoor and outdoor.

Pest Traps

These are boxes with multiple entrances and contain pest poison. Cockroaches enter and carry this poison along, which helps in finishing the infestation.

Chalk

These chalks contain toxic agents that kill roaches. It is the cheapest method to get rid of cockroaches.

Sprays

This is widely used in houses and is readily available. Spraying it at the possible infestation areas kills cockroaches very efficiently.

DIY Methods

These include home ingredients such as boric acid or ammonia, which is poisonous for pests. Roaches hate strong smells, and they cannot stand the smell of these powerful agents.
