Idaho is located in the northern region of the United States. It was once considered a part of the Oregon country. The cockroaches are one of the oldest creatures on earth, which are by far the most adaptable creatures too. They are found in Idaho also because the weather in the region drastically varies from season to season.

The common Cockroaches in Idaho are:

1. German Cockroach

German Cockroach

These cockroaches are a significant worry as they like indoor locations. These are small in size, ranging from 1/2 inch to 5/8 inch in length and medium yellowish-brown in color. German roaches can be distinguished from other cockroaches by two dark parallel stripes on the anterior, dorsal portion of the thorax. They have a unique love for sweets, meats, starches, pieces of bread, gravies, and almost any of the human or pet food. They also consume glue and book bindings.

The preferred habitats by these cockroaches are Kitchens, bathrooms, and other locations that provide food, moisture, warmth, and shelter. These are most common in bathrooms, kitchen sinks, and commercial kitchen environments.

2. Brown-banded Cockroach

Brown-banded Cockroach

Brown-banded Cockroach is one of the smallest pest cockroaches; the adult cockroaches are approximately 10 to 15mm in length and identified by the yellow-brown stripes across their abdomen. They are unique insects because of the difference in the appearance of the males and the female body. These are omnivorous pests and forage on anything that possesses organic matter, which makes them consume even natural glues used in books and cabinets.

They are highly active and quick in motion, which makes it very difficult to find them. Like all cockroaches that invade buildings, these roaches love spending much of their time resting in cracks. They prefer high altitude and are excellent flyers, making it harder to reach and kill them.

3. American Cockroach

American Cockroach

American cockroaches are typically oval, reddish-brown with a yellowish figure 8 pattern on the back end of the head; they have six legs. Adult cockroaches range between 1 ¼ to 2 ⅛ in length and have an antenna, which helps them in smelling food.

They prefer habitats where food and water supply is readily available, and they are generally found outdoors. Despite the name, the American Cockroach is found all over the world. When they do not go indoors, these can be found crawling inside dark spaces. They’re generally found in places like woodpiles, dead logs, and hollow trees.

Weather Conditions in Idaho

Although the state’s borders with the pacific ocean are quite far away, humidity and precipitation are ample in amounts in winters too. The winters are not as cold as they should be. Because of which cockroaches often consider it a great place to take refuge to save themselves from the chilly winters while summers are the most favorite season for the cockroaches.

Proper sanitation is the key to keep cockroaches away, and it should be taken very seriously since it is also better to take precautions rather than creating a mess and then dealing with it.
